Blast furnace coke
Chinese’s blast furnace coke is concentrated in North China, East China and the North China-Northwest China connection zone. As the core raw material for steel smelting, blast furnace coke has the highest production capacity and is mainly distributed in:
North China (accounting for 45% of the country’s blast furnace coke production capacity):
Shanxi Province (accounting for 22% of the country): Relying on the coking coal and fat coal resources of Huoxi, Hedong, Xishan and other coalfields, the main blast furnace coke production areas such as Taiyuan, Linfen and Luliang have been formed. Enterprises such as Shanxi Coking Coal and Meiya Energy mainly produce high-grade blast furnace coke (ash content <12%, sulfur content <0.7%) and supply them to North China and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei steel bases (such as Shougang and Hegang).
Hebei Province (accounting for 15% of the country): Kailuan and Fengfeng mining areas have rich coking coal reserves, and blast furnace coke production capacity is concentrated in Tangshan and Handan, directly serving local steel companies (such as Tangshan Iron and Steel and Handan Iron and Steel). The coke is mainly medium-lump coke (40-80mm) to meet the permeability requirements of the blast furnace charge column.
Western Inner Mongolia (accounting for 11% of the country): Wuhai and Ordos rely on low-ash and low-sulfur coking coal to form a blast furnace coke production capacity concentration area, and part of the coke is supplied to Northeast steel companies through the “West Coke East Transport”.
East China (accounting for 20% of the country):
Shandong Province (accounting for 13% of the country): Zibo, Yanzhou and Zaozhuang mining areas are rich in gas coal and fat coal resources. The blast furnace coke production capacity in Qingdao, Rizhao and other places supports the local steel (such as Shandong Steel) and building materials industries. The products are mainly medium- and high-sulfur blast furnace coke (0.8%-1.0%).
Jiangsu Province (5% of the country): The coking coal resources in the Xuzhou mining area support the production of blast furnace coke in Xuzhou and Lianyungang, and part of them are supplied to steel companies in the Yangtze River Delta.
Other areas:
Northeast region: Qitaihe in Heilongjiang and Tonghua in Jilin rely on local coking coal to produce blast furnace coke to supply Anshan Iron and Steel Group, Benxi Iron and Steel Group and other companies. Due to the restrictions on transportation conditions in winter, there is a regional supply and demand balance.
Central and Southern China: The blast furnace coke production capacity in Henan Pingdingshan, Hubei Daye and other places is supported by steel bases such as Wuhan Iron and Steel and Angang. The scale is relatively small but the local characteristics are obvious.
